Lexi Featherston, a washed-out It Girl played by the INCOMPARABLE Kristen Johnston, is a character from the HBO series Sex and The City (ever heard of it?!). Lexi was launched into permanent queer pop culture canon after appearing in only one episode and a mere THREE scenes (Season 6, Episode 18). “HOW!?” you might ask. It’s her iconic rant right before she falls out the window into oblivion in front of a room full of New York glitterati. Before her big “SPLAT!” (title of ep) she yells, “When did everybody stop smoking? When did everybody pair off? This used to be the most exciting city in the world and now it’s nothing but smoking near an open window. New York is over. O-V-E-R. Over. NO ONE IS FUN ANYMORE! WHATEVER HAPPENED TO FUN?!” And it’s like…Lexi has a goddamn point!? May this memorial portrait of Ms. Featherston’s ghost symbolize defiance of boredom and a celebration of outsize expression in the face of mortality. RIP Lexi. RIP Fun.
